With Harry Watling promising new faces this week, the guys at The Fleet Zone take a look at who they’d like to see sign for the Fleet as we attempt to turn our fortunes around

1. Alex Gorrin (CM/CDM)

After his release from Forest Green in the summer, Gorrin is yet to find a club. He can play in a holding role or a box to box, potentially offering some much needed competition for Josh Wright. The Spaniard is comfortable on the ball and is noted for his great passing range.

2. Harry Kite (CM/RM)

After departing Exeter in the summer, Kite is still without a club. He didn’t earn a contract at League One Rotherham following a trial period and a drop down to the NL for a season would give him the opportunity to rebuild his career with competitive minutes. He has an eye for goal and would most likely be used in the ‘10’.

3. Connor Parsons (LW/CAM)

Recognised for YouTube fame, Parsons’ Waterford contract ends soon and a move back to England may be on the cards. Providing link up play and chance creation, this would’ve been already done if Danny Searle was still here!

4. Romaine Sawyers (CM/CAM)

Last at Cardiff, Sawyers is yet to find a club despite clear Football League quality. He’d provide assists, chance creation – qualities sorely lacking in the squad at the moment. And his passing quality is phenomenal going forward. We might be aiming high with this one, but we can dream.

5. Ollie Kensdale (CB)

After his release from Southend for off-field issues, Kensdale is without a club and is easily one of the best defenders in the division. He is well known for his great aerial ability. A move is probably unlikely until Kensdale has fought his other battles – but he could still offer a lot of value to the club.

6. Sonny Fish (ST)

A loan move here, Fish gained experience for Welling last term and will be looking to drop down for playing time again, with the Fleet needing to bolster attacking options. Providing much needed pace to the forward line, a loan for the rest of the season makes sense for all involved.

7. Darnell Johnson (CB/RB/CDM)

Another recently plying their trade at Forest Green Rovers, Johnson’s versatility makes him an exciting prospect. He would be incredibly comfortable operating at NL level, and would be another player with much needed pace. A move to Ebbsfleet would definitely come easy for him

8. Callum Cooke (CM/CAM)

Without a club after a strange Hartlepool release, Cooke would bring plenty to the current Fleet midfield right now. He’s a player who has innate creative flair and the ability to create clear-cut chances from midfield. Something fans have been missing all season. We have no idea why he’s still a free agent – he should have been snapped up.

9. Connor Wickham (ST)

Last at Charlton, Wickham hasn’t yet found a club in the EFL, and a drop down to the NL would make sense. A ruthless right foot, it’s safe to say he could tear this league apart. Could also be deployed out wide, Wickham guarantees goals. We’ve seen players move down the A2 to great effect in the past, too…

That’s it! There’s our 9 suggestions, we’re aware a few of these seem unlikely, but with signings like Randall and Ibe in recent history, expect the unexpected. Anyone on this list you think should’ve been featured? Let The Fleet Zone know – and be sure to follow them over on X/Twitter!
