After a calamitous start to the 24/25 campaign, Ebbsfleet today announced the departure of first-team manager Danny Searle and his assistant Anwar Uddin.

We’re sorry to see Danny go – he made a marked intervention in the campaign last year, and without his work it was overwhelmingly likely that we would have been playing in the National League South this season.

As it is, it’s a privilege to be playing the National League proper. But the challenge has proven too severe for us thus far this term.

We’ve been well beaten at home and on the road; and save for a five-minute spell in Yeovil we’ve never truly had a side on the backfoot.

With no tangible improvements over the course of the opening seven fixtures, attendances in decline, and morale in the stands pretty low, this decision felt sadly inevitable.

Josh Wright stepping up for tomorrows fixture should help identify whether the problems were coming from the dressing room or the dugout – before the clubs hierarchy look for a permanent managerial solution.

We’re currently sitting a long way from safety, but it’s a long season and we should all back the boys to turn things around. All eyes on Aldershot!

Yeovil is a long way from lovely Kent and Tuesday is a working day. With that in mind, yesterday’s fixture brought the seasons first foray into NationalLeagueTV. On paper, building a football team can seem like a straightforward task.
